An exploratory space to attend to what's feeding our creativity, to what matters most

In this workshop, I’m bringing my experience and ideas to offer an online space to explore the possibilities of working with intuition in your own practice. I’m extending ideas from intuitive painting outwards to address the creative and imaginal in whatever you do - be that conflict transformation, building social enterprises, or writing music. I am convinced that we can find exciting parallels and that starting from the visual can lead to new insights for our work and our lives, and that will support re-finding and strengthening your voice in the world.

We’ll start with colour placed on surface and then dive deep into what’s currently active in our individual creative practice. I’ll guide you through a process of working intuitively, allowing new possibilities, and reflecting on what really matters to you.

Learning and doing intuitive painting over the last 9 years has changed my painting practice from ‘doing what I was told’ to following the energy that underpins my work. It involves deep listening, attending to what’s happening inside and on the paper or canvas, curiosity about what could happen next, taking risks and asking questions, working through discomfort, and delight at what emerges.

Now I’d love to share some of this with you to enrich your own practice ~

What happens in an online workshop?

You’ll receive an e-mail in advance with a journalling prompt to begin the process. We’ll begin the workshop with a warm-up activity to focus. After initial activities with colour, you get to shift the balance between the visual and the verbal to reflect your own practice. I’ll get you started and move around the group to facilitate the process one-to-one. There will be time at the end to reflect on the process.

I’m not a painter. What will I do?

I invite you to explore the creative in your work or your life through the visual, beginning with colour (acrylic paint, felt tips, crayons, colour pencils, collage) on paper (blank and as large as you can handle). A simple non-threatening process will take you from first mark to finished picture, writing alongside about the process and what it evokes. I’ll help with attending to what happens and connecting to your concerns.

I’m a painter. What will I do?

I invite you to spend the time with paint (acrylic is easiest for this) and paper (as large as you can handle), experiencing an intuitive painting process from first blob to finished painting. I’ll support deep looking at what’s happening on the paper and developing the work. The notes you take alongside painting may be poetic reflections or technical reminders.

Your creative practice will be enriched by this experience. Not just by new techniques that feed into what you already do, but by new ways of thinking about process and your life in this disrupted world. Re-find your voice and let it speak more strongly in your work.

Experience the adventure of a dialogue with your intuition

About me

There’s a thread through my life that could be called ‘teaching’ - I’ve taught all levels and ages from nursery to PhD and teacher education, academic and vocational. Actually it’s broader and deeper than ‘teaching’ - it’s about connecting with people and helping them to grow; it’s a fascination with how people’s unrealised potentials can be opened up, about witnessing growth and understanding.

Managing just fine, acrylic on paper, 75 x 100cm, Lynne Cameron 2024.

When I shifted to working as an artist in 2014, intuitive painting was one source of development, alongside art school courses. Long years in academia had relegated intuition in favour of the logical and rational. Waking it up again was a wonderful experience. In 2022, I completed a course to become a Master Facilitator in Expressive Arts, working with Chris Zydel at Creative Juices Arts

Adventures in Intuition is the latest in a series of courses and workshops I have devised to support people in growing their creative/poetic/intuitive selves. I’m particularly keen to support people who work in conflict transformation and other professions addressing social issues in strengthening their commitment and their voices.
